The celebrated Château Gazin is steeped in ancient history. Said to be built on the site of a 12th century hospital for pilgrims, this part of their heritage is proudly depicted in the iconic red cross on their label. Now in its fifth generation of ownership, the estate is owned by a family who boast an impressive lineage dating back to 1214. Large by Pomerol standards, their 26 hectares of vines neighbour the famous vineyards of L`Evangile and Pétrus. The family are committed to environmentally friendly vineyard practices, crafting world-class claret from their Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines. The 2011 vintage is powerful and full bodied, with intense flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, sour cherry and complex savoury notes. Best enjoyed after an hour in the decanter and paired with hearty meat dishes.
