Casal Farneto ‘GranCasale’ Verdicchio 2019

Family-owned Casal Farneto are true champions of Verdicchio, producing more than a dozen different wines from this local white variety. ‘Gran Casale’ means ‘big farmhouse’ and is a nod to the ancient structure from which the winery was built. They work sustainably and organically over 35 acres, employing modern technology where appropriate. The estate is in the province of Ancona, on the border of two valleys, Valmisa and Vallesina. Structure and elegance meet citrus and peach notes – and a light yeasty kick. The team get it just right by harvesting late, in the second half of October, when grape clusters are fully ripe. The result is a fabulous full-bodied white that will match creamy fish dishes perfectly.
